At WellSense we believe that quality of care needs to be at the core of every effort aimed at improving primary health care in Africa.

We know too well that poor quality of care is a key factor contributing to the poor health outcomes on the African continent. We believe in the role of clinical governance and supervision as part of a systematic approach that addresses structures and processes in order to maintain and improve the quality of patient care within a health system. 

We conduct quality of care assessments in primary health-care facilities or health posts in sub-Saharan Africa before or after an intervention, a training or the provision of a technical support program.  We consider quality improvement to be a continuous cycle that requires commitment to people, processes, infrastructure, equipment, and materials, as well as periodic evaluations and feedback. If the change is to be sustainable change - there must be local commitment to quality even within the parameters of resource constraints.
