Public health programmes are being stretched thin by forces far beyond the clinic or outreach context.
Climate breakdown, overconsumption, ecological degradation, food system instability, rapid population growth, and the fragmentation of land and community are converging to shape a new public health reality.

Traditional public health programmes, while well-meaning, too often remain siloed- focused on outputs, outcomes, and indicators that ignore the interconnectedness of people, place, and planet.

That’s where I come in.

I work with organisations ready to think systemically and design programmes that restore relationships - between communities and the ecosystems that sustain their lives.

Through bespoke programmes, immersive training, and transformative content, we support your teams to reconnect health with land, culture, and community - because thriving ecosystems are the foundation of thriving people and thriving futures.

Our Approach

Regenerative by design

Whether you're a small grassroots initiative or a large international organisation, these offerings are designed to meet you where you are and move your work forward. Each engagement is bespoke - tailored to your team’s needs, priorities, and context. You can learn more about us here.

Collaborative, unique solutions, that bring effective, impactful change.

Using a One Health approach, I work with organisations to reframe health programming in light of ecological reality. I help you design or adapt health interventions that honour complexity, integrate indigenous and ecological wisdom, and deliver lasting results for people and planet. This is about reconnecting health to its wider ecosystem -because public health is now planetary health.

“Wellense’s leadership in participatory research was essential in shaping toolkits that are now used in 13 countries. Monique brings a rare combination of academic rigour and deep, on-the-ground experience. Her passion to make a real difference brings real value to every project and over 20 years of living and working in malaria-endemic regions gives her work a unique depth. We’ve collaborated on malaria interventions across Africa for over 15 years -and I’d do it again without hesitation.”

Our Offerings

Some of the programmes we offer

If you don’t see what you need, get in touch! We specialise in creating bespoke solutions for NGO’s, schools, and organisations of all sizes.

  • Education & Thought Leadership

The paradigm shift begins with your team embodying planetary consciousness before they can inspire change in the communities they serve.

I equip your team with the insight, language, and tools to embrace a holistic Eco-Health approach. Through grounded education in population and planetary health, systems thinking, functional medicine, polyvagal theory, and the Work That Reconnects, I help shift not just knowledge, but worldview.

Perfect for NGOs, public health teams, and donors who want to deepen their understanding of planetary health.

  • Adapting Existing Programmes

This is about making your current teams and programmes, more ecologically intelligent, more impactful, and more aligned with the urgency we face and the future we have to build.

Perhaps a new programme is not an option, but a slow change is needed.

I work with you to audit your current initiatives and identify opportunities to integrate eco-health principles across your work and within your team.

Perfect for those ready to pivot and strengthen the programmes they already have.

  • Signature Programme Development

Let’s build a flagship programme that leads in this space. Whatever your focus—malaria, TB, HIV, malnutrition, SRHR—the intersection with planetary health is no longer optional - it's critical.

Communities across sub-Saharan Africa are already living with the daily impacts of climate change.

I work with you step-by-step to align your mission with these ecological realities affecting health outcomes today and explore how your interventions can adapt, endure, and remain effective in a rapidly changing world.

  • Communication Strategies & Storytelling

We can bring your work to life so that others can learn from your work.
Whether through documentary films, a uniquely designed workshop, theatre or music, we work with you to find ways to support your teams to build a communications approach that truly shifts thinking whether at the local, national, or global level.

  • Bespoke Toolkits  & Implementation Kits

Tailored toolkits that support implementation—bridging science, systems thinking, local knowledge - to help your work land and last.

All toolkits can be field tested.

Interested in working together?

If you’re reading this, you’re probably feeling the limits of “business as usual” in public health.

Are you seeing how climate disruption, land fragmentation, food system instability, or population pressures are changing what your community needs—and your programmes haven’t quite caught up?

Do you have a solid team, a strong mission, but a sense that the work could go deeper, land better, or connect more meaningfully?

Working with me is for you if…

  • You’re leading or supporting health programmes that need to adapt to a rapidly changing world.

  • You’re tired of piecemeal interventions and want to integrate health, environment, and community more holistically.

  • You believe local knowledge and context should guide the way.

  • You’re open to asking harder questions—not just “What are our indicators?” but “Are we still working in the right direction?”

  • You want health strategies that are practical, regenerative, and locally grounded—not just technocratic checklists.

What you can expect from me:

  • Honest, practical feedback. I’m not here to dazzle with jargon or chase trends—I’m here to help your work land better and last longer.

  • Customised, grounded support—from strategic direction to tools you can actually use in the field.

  • Big-picture thinking balanced with day-to-day practicality.

  • Deep listening. You’re the expert in your context—I’m here to help connect the dots and surface what matters most.

  • A systems perspective that never loses sight of the real people and places you’re working for.

How it works:

  1. Start with a free discovery call – A chance to understand your context, talk through your challenges, and explore if this is the right fit.

  2. Complete a brief intake questionnaire – So I can better understand your goals, current efforts, and where you feel stuck.

  3. Receive a tailored collaboration proposal – With a suggested process, scope, and pricing.

Begin the work – Whether it’s adapting existing programmes, building a strategy from scratch, or designing something entirely new together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions?

  • Not at all. Curiosity is more important than credentials. Whether your team is just beginning to connect the dots between planet and health or already fluent in systems thinking, we meet where you are. This is about evolving together, not arriving fully formed.

  • While I’m based in Kenya and deeply rooted in the region, my work spans Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. I work with both local and international organisations—often remotely, and sometimes in person, depending on the scope and nature of the collaboration.

  • Both. You could bring me in for a targeted piece—like a strategy review or a communication toolkit. Others engage in long-term co-creation and implementation. What matters is that the work is meaningful, not rushed, and responsive to real needs.

  • Because every project is unique, pricing is based on scope, duration, and deliverables. After the discovery call and questionnaire, I’ll send through a proposed package and costed plan so you can review and decide from there. I always take into account an organisations’ status and will consider discounts for smaller groups.

  • Absolutely. You don’t have to scrap everything to move in a new direction. I work with teams to assess what’s working, what’s not, and how to gently (or boldly) adapt your programme to reflect a more integrated, planetary lens—without losing momentum or connection to communities.

  • Not unless you want to.
But I might ask: what do we actually mean by it? I’m more interested in true sustainability—the kind that’s regenerative, equitable, and long-view. So no jargon police here, just a friendly invitation to dig deeper. Let’s move from buzzwords to rooted, relational, real-world action.

Is this work a good fit?

It will require a willingness to question old assumptions, to sit with complexity, and to work slowly and relationally when needed. If you’re looking for a quick consultancy to tweak a logframe, tick a box or retrofit language onto existing models. I’m probably not your person.

But if you’re ready to design public health that truly reflects the world we live in—ecologically, socially, and spiritually—I’d love to hear from you.
